Research Summary
My current research explores the efficiency with which cereal crops use water. Using a phenotyping platform to simultaneously measure the water use of 100 different genotypes of maize plants, we hope to find a number of genotypes which are naturally high in water use efficiency. The project aims to increase our knowledge of the implications for crop productivity and food security under reduced water availably, and whether we can improve crop yield in regions that suffer from limited water resources.
