LEC Funding Opportunities - 2012/13 Entry
There are a significant number of LEC scholarships/studentships available for 2012-13 across our Taught Masters courses, each worth up to £3000. These are open to UK, EU and International students.
There are 7 FST Scholarships available for 2012-13 on the MSc Ecology and Conservation, each worth £1500. These are open to UK and EU students.
There are 7 FST Scholarships available for 2012-13 on the MA Environmental Management and Consultancy, each worth £1500. These are open to UK and EU students.
There is 1 Heatherlea Bursary available for 2012-13 on the MSc Ecology and Conservation worth £1000. This is open to UK, EU and International students.
Funding Allocation
Allocation of funds for these competitive LEC and FST scholarships is based on academic excellence, for example, high 2:1/1st class Undergraduate degree (or equivalent), merit or distinction at Masters level (or equivalent), awards for academic performance, publication of dissertation, relevant work/voluntary experience. Please note we are unable to make decisions on financial grounds.
Application Process
To be considered for the LEC and/or FST scholarships/studentships and/or Heatherlea Bursary you need 1. to be holding an offer of a place on a LEC Taught Masters and 2. email the LEC PG Office with your name, applicant ID and reason(s) for consideration (max 250 words). We will only consider applicants who apply via this route. Decisions will be based on the information provided with your email and the information supplied on the online application form. We will consider applications during a second round in Summer 2012. Deadline to be holding an offer and submitted your email application for the second round of funding is to be confirmed.

Alumni Postgraduate Studentships are available for up to five studentships of £1000 each. Applications are invited from any student who has completed a degree at Lancaster University and wishes to go on to post-graduate study here. FindAMasters is offering 9 Postgraduate Study Funding Awards/bursaries for students wishing to start a Masters course in autumn 2012 at any European (EU) institution. They have 8 x £500 subject specific awards up for grabs, and 1 general award worth £1000. For further details see FindAMasters Funding Awards.
Peel Trust Studentships are available for the support of students for first or higher degrees, in any subject. Applicants must be aged 21 and over on the first day of the first term for which they are seeking assistance. The award is based on academic merit and financial hardship and is up to an individual maximum of £2500. UK applicants may also wish to consider a Professional and Career Development Loan, which is offered by the Government's Learning and Skills Council (LSC), together with three banks. A Professional and Career Development Loan could help you pay for learning that enhances your job skills or career prospects. It’s a bank loan, so you’ll have to pay it back once you’ve left your course. However, you don’t pay interest for the period when you’re in learning.
